How can a new teaser for 1923 ramp up excitement for the past when the present-day Yellowstone ranch faces near destruction?
The post New Teaser be Damned: Who Cares About the Duttons’ Land Battle in 1923 With Yellowstone’s Looming Unhappy Ending? appeared first on TV Fanatic.
]]>Well, almost.
I’m writing this post before the Yellowstone Season 5 (or series) finale, so maybe there is a sliver of happiness to be had. At this point, I seriously doubt it.
Sure, there is some hope that a spinoff or continuation of the Dutton saga with Beth and Rip at the wheel will renew the family legacy in some way.
And Kayce’s cockamamie tax scheme to save the land — after already selling off their prized stock, all of their horses, and a family history of wagons and whatnot — could buy them another reprieve.
But the reality is that the Duttons’ century-long fight to save their land loses its luster in prequels when the result is so depressing.
We still don’t know the certainty of John Dutton’s ancestral line, which was one of the fun things about watching 1883 and 1923.
And the love stories have been off the hook.
On 1883, young Elsa Dutton had two swoon-worthy romances during her tragically short life span.
Spencer and Alexandra met under circumstances normally found in romance novels. They traversed the globe, running from human, animal, and natural enemies, trying to tear them apart.
Jack and Elizabeth’s story is a little more grounded but not without its perils. They cling to each other for dear life while their worlds fall apart around them.
Of course, that leads us to Beth and Rip, the de facto fiery romance on Yellowstone, and Kayce and Monica, a more level-headed family-style romantic partnership.
So you’ll have to excuse me when I lose my excitement seeing teasers for 1923 that put the battle for land front and center again. That battle likely can’t be won, at least not as the family imagined it at that time.
Much to Taylor Sheridan’s dismay, it wasn’t the search for or battle for the land that made either the 1883 or 1923 appointment TV — it was the emotional connections promising to keep the fire burning for generations to come.
Here’s the official synopsis for 1923 Season 2:
A cruel winter brings new challenges and unfinished business to Jacob and Cara back at the Dutton ranch.
With harsh conditions and adversaries threatening to end the Dutton legacy, Spencer embarks on an arduous journey home, racing against time to save his family in Montana.
Meanwhile, Alexandra sets off on her own harrowing trans-Atlantic journey to find Spencer and reclaim their love.
So, Spencer and Alexandra, the fiery light that swept over us all while watching 1923 Season 1, will be separated for a good portion of the season, most likely the whole season, with them running into each others arms to close out the series.
If there’s one thing that these short seasons (and short series) rob us of, it’s the joy of experiencing a relationship’s development over time.
Even worse, Sheridan’s shows are soap operas in their truest sense, where star-crossed lovers fight against forces pushing them to their limits and often keeping them out of the arms that give them life.
On Yellowstone, John Dutton, the last man to care as deeply about the land as the family who claimed it, is dead.
No matter how that story ends, the wars waged by previous Dutton generations don’t hold as much weight anymore. The way of life they lived and fought for is at its end.
That really sucks the energy out of the past. Maybe the final eight episodes of 1923 will prove me wrong.
If Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 has done anything, it’s shown that my optimism is a pipe dream. So, I’ll remain cynical and enjoy the elation of my incorrect assumptions should they come to that.
Here’s the official teaser:
Are you still excited for 1923, or has Yellowstone’s ending tarnished the past as much as the present?
Let me know what you’re thinking in the comments below.
1923 Season 2 premieres on Paramount+ on Sunday, February 23.

]]>They’re the officers who take chances with unknown suspects, chasing them down and asking tough questions.
With Prime Video’s On Call, those beat cops will get their just reward.
Today, Prime Video released the official trailer and key art for On Call, a gripping new half-hour drama series from Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television.
Co-created by Tim Walsh and Elliot Wolf, On Call is Wolf Entertainment’s first scripted streaming series and will premiere with all eight episodes on January 9, 2025, exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
On Call is an adrenalized and visceral police drama that follows a rookie and veteran officer duo as they go on patrol in Long Beach, California.
The innovative series incorporates a mixture of bodycam, dash camera, and cellphone footage to create a cinema verité effect.
It explores the morality of protecting and serving a community.
The series stars Troian Bellisario (Pretty Little Liars) as Officer Traci Harmon, a seasoned twelve-year veteran and training officer with a strong moral compass that has defined her approach to policing, even if that puts her at odds with new law enforcement policies.
Brandon Larracuente (The Good Doctor) stars as Alex Diaz, an ambitious rookie who struggles to maintain his optimistic outlook as he realizes the challenges he’ll face in today’s climate.
We’ve seen all eight episodes, and its storytelling is fresh and propulsive.
You’ll be reminded of many other shows, including On Patrol: Live, The Rookie, and Southland, but there is little room for fluff here, and On Call emerges as something entirely unexpected.
Take a look at the official trailer now:
The cast also includes the following heavy hitters:
The additional cast includes Eriq La Salle (ER, Logan) as Sergeant Lasman, who also serves as an executive producer on the series and directed multiple episodes.
Lori Loughlin (Fuller House) as Lieutenant Bishop.
Rich Ting as Sergeant Koyama (Tulsa King).
Dick Wolf (Law & Order, Chicago, FBI-branded series), Tim Walsh (Chicago P.D., Hightown, Night Stalker), Elliot Wolf (Dark Woods, Hunted), Eriq LaSalle (former EP/Director Chicago P.D.), and Peter Jankowski are executive producers.
The series is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studios Group and Amazon MGM Studios, in association with Wolf Entertainment.
What do you think? Take it from me; set aside the day to soak this one in. It’s worth it!

The post The Curious Case of Natalia Grace: The Final Chapter Gets Premiere Date, First-Look Teaser appeared first on TV Fanatic.
]]>Investigation Discovery announced today that The Curious Case of Natalia Grace: The Final Chapter will receive its long-awaited premiere in January.
Natalia, as you may recall, is the Ukrainian orphan who was accused of trying to murder her adoptive American parents.
Her story now serves as incontrovertible proof that sometimes, truth is stranger than fiction.
In a press release issued today, ID revealed that the new series picks up “After an unprecedented and volatile phone call in which Natalia’s new adoptive family, the Manses, told production, ‘We’re done, we’re done with her.'”
According to today’s statement, The Final Chapter “dives back into Natalia’s story as she faces a new set of challenges and upheavals from a dramatic rescue mission to new allegations of abuse.”
The series will offer “a conclusion to Natalia’s story as she strives for healing and resolution in her tumultuous journey filled with decades of unexpected twists and turns.”
ID also released a chilling teaser that reminds us of just how bonkers this roller coaster ride has been.
“Something ain’t right with Natalia. This girl is tweaking,” Antwon Mans tells producers in a voiceover.
“I feel like she’s the enemy in the house. And she said to us, we have held her hostage. Made us look like we’re the enemy,” he continues.
“She’s done other things too, but this was a new low. Natalia does not have emotions for nothing but herself. We’re done. We’re done with her.”
Of course, the case of Natalia Grace has repeatedly proven to be more complicated than it initially appears, and we’re sure this latest installment in the docuseries will only deepen the mystery.
Natalia first came to our attention in 2023 with a first season that left viewers wondering if they should feel pity for this adopted child or anger toward this con artist adult.
Now, the story will finally come to an end — but something tells us we’ll be left with plenty of questions.
Over to you, TV fanatics! Are you ready to reopen this bizarre case, or do you feel like the Natalia Grace saga has run its course?

]]>But we’re getting a new glimpse of the dystopian drama’s final act thanks to some first-look photos and new 2025 sizzle reel footage from Hulu and Disney+.
The show is set to return in spring, though no specific release date has been announced.
Fortunately, if you’re a subscriber to the Disney+/Hulu bundle, you’ll have plenty of entertainment options in the year to come.
The sizzle reel also provides first looks at:
The Bear Season 4, Andor Season 2, Goosebumps Season 2, and Percy Jackson & The Olympians Season 2.
And there are plenty of new shows on the way, too!
We’ve got Alien: Earth from Fargo creator Noah Hawley and the football comedy Chad Powers starring Glen Powell.
There’s also the highly anticipated dramas Good American Family, starring Ellen Pompeo, and Paradise, featuring This Is Us favorite Sterling K. Brown.
And it wouldn’t be a Disney+ reveal if there weren’t a couple of Marvel projects in the mix.
This time around, it’s Daredevil: Born Again and Ironheart. But while those two series are highly anticipated in certain demographics, it’s the return of Handmaid’s that’s generating the most buzz today.
It’s the final season for the politically charged thriller adapted from Margaret Atwood’s iconic novel.
Once again, Elisabeth Moss will lead, alongside Samira Wiley, Ann Dowd, Joseph Fiennes, Yvonne Strahovski, Bradley Whitford, and Max Minghella.
This is a show that began life in 2016, and it bid farewell to its source material long ago.
Despite long hiatuses between seasons, enthusiasm for the series is as high as ever.
Taking the opposite approach is The Bear, which is previewing its fourth season just months after Season 3 came to a close.
The Bear Season 3 didn’t captivate critics and audiences quite as much as the first two installments.
And that might not bode well for the show’s fourth (and possibly final) season, as both were filmed at the same time.
Still, the show is one of the few remaining “prestige” series that’s actually popular with viewers. So despite a disappointing third course, fans are still eager to see what Carmy whips up for dessert.

The post Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 Gets New Trailer Amid Record Ratings appeared first on TV Fanatic.
]]>According to a new report from Variety, the Paramount Network juggernaut just delivered its biggest ratings to date.
Yellowstone Season 5 Episode 9 pulled in a whopping 16.4 million viewers across CBS and cable.
And streaming audiences are sure to add to that number now that the episode is available on Hulu and other platforms.
As Deadline reports, Paramount is still locked in a contract dispute with Nielsen. Thus, this data comes to us courtesy of the analytics outfit VideoAmp.
But while the numbers weren’t tabulated by the first name in TV ratings services, there’s no reason to doubt their accuracy.
Obviously, the big winners here are Paramount and Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan.
And while there are no losers, necessarily, you can bet that Kevin Costner is less than thrilled about the situation.
As we previously reported, Costner made a major gamble when he walked away from Yellowstone in order to focus on his multi-part Western epic, Horizon.
(His personal disagreements with Sheridan likely also factored into the decision, but it’s still hard to get a reliable account of that situation.)
Sadly, Horizon Part 1 tanked so badly that the second installment never hit theaters.
Now, to add insult to injury, this week’s numbers confirm that Yellowstone fans are more interested in the series than ever, despite the absence of its A-list star.
As for the future of the dueling Dutton family, the trailer above provides our first look at what lies ahead this season.
And it looks as though Sheridan and company have had no trouble coming up with explosive new storylines in this post-Costner era.
Will the show’s current success lead Paramount to uncancel Yellowstone, as has been rumored?
Well, it’s too soon to say.
But no matter what becomes of the Dutton Ranch, Sheridan fans have plenty to look forward to.
The workaholic showrunner has a whopping six series on the air right now, including Landman, which premieres on Sunday.

The post Dark Winds Season 3 Gets Pulse-Pounding First Trailer appeared first on TV Fanatic.
]]>Thankfully, its status as a chronically underrated cult gem hasn’t prevented it from being renewed.
The third season of Dark Winds is set to hit AMC and AMC+ on March 9.
And the network is whetting our appetites with a trailer that fully embraces the noirish nightmare vibes that made the first two seasons so memorable.
Based on the beloved book series by Tony Hillerman, Dark Winds has beefed up its cast for its third outing.
TV veterans Jenna Elfman and Bruce Greenwood have signed on as series regulars.
The show also boasts a star-studded roster of executive producers that includes Robert Redford and George R.R. Martin.
The first two seasons of Dark Winds consisted of six tightly plotted episodes.
The show’s episode order has now been expanded, which is perhaps a testament to its widespread critical appeal in an era in which true prestige TV is hard to come by.
“The expanded third season, featuring eight episodes, picks up six months after the events of Season 2 and follows Lt. Joe Leaphorn (Zahn McClarnon) and Jim Chee (Kiowa Gordon) as they investigate the disappearance of two boys, with only an abandoned bicycle and blood-stained patch of ground left in their wake,” reads the logline.
“Meanwhile, Bernadette Manuelito (Matten) attempts to settle into her new life 500 miles from home with the Border Patrol, but stumbles across a conspiracy involving human and drug smuggling with far-reaching implications.”
With its southwestern setting, dark tone, and interest in the philosophical side of crime, Dark Winds has drawn comparisons to the first season of True Detective.
That’s not an unfair analogy, but Dark Winds also has a lot in common with more traditional procedurals.
In other words, if you’re on the fence about jumping into this show, you needn’t worry about being subjected to any ponderous musings about the cyclical nature of time.
That said, this series does not go easy on its audience.
“We all have a line down the center of our hearts. That line separates monsters from men,” Leaphorn says in the trailer.
“And I’m afraid I have crossed that line.”
Yes, Halloween might be over, but Dark Winds is still sending shivers up our spine. And we can’t wait to see what’s in store for Season 3.
What do you think, TV fanatics? Is Dark Winds deserve a place in the conversation about TV’s very best cop shows?

]]>Namely, his six-pack abs.
(And yes, we’re resisting the urge to make a corncob pipe joke.)
In recent years, Lacey Chabert’s name has become synonymous with Hallmark.
But her newest holiday jaunt is a Netflix production, which means she’s free to be a little more risque than usual.
And that’s a very good thing, as you want to be free to swing for the fences when you’re making a movie in which a character from a kids’ song transforms into a shredded himbo with a penchant for public nudity.
Thankfully, from the looks of the trailer, this movie is fully aware of the absurdity of its premise and leans into it with aplomb:
Schitt’s Creek regular Dustin Milligan plays the titular sexy snowman who comes to life with the aid of Lacey’s enchanted scarf (old silk hats just aren’t in style anymore).
The stacked cast also features such comedic heavyweights as Craig Robinson, Kay Mixon, Joe Lo Truglio, and Lauren Holly.
We even get an appearance from Selling Sunset star Chrishell Stause!
Yes, Hot Frosty has it all. Come for the possibility of full-frontal snowman nudity; stay for the laughs!
And to top everything off, the trailer concludes with a winking Mean Girls reference.
What more could you want from the most bonkers-looking holiday romcom in recent memory?
It might not clean up come award season, but this one promises to be more fun than the typical small-town Christmas romance.
Over to you, TV fanatics!

The post Severance Season 2 Trailer Is Loaded With Corporate Creepiness appeared first on TV Fanatic.
]]>And the first trailer for Severance Season 2 is keeping the creepy vibes going with more of the stark white hallways and fluorescent lighting that first gave us the heebie-jeebies back in 2022.
Yes, it’s been a long wait for more episodes — but few series reward patience as well as this one.
That said, if you were hoping for a ton of plot info from the latest Severance trailer … well, we’re afraid you’ll have to do a bit more waiting.
If you’re a fan of the series, then you probably recall its twister premise:
Mark Scout (Adam Scott) leads a team at Lumon Industries, a company whose employees have undergone a procedure that surgically divides their memories between their work and personal lives.
Coming home every night unburdened by what has been (to borrow a phrase from a presidential candidate) might sound like a sweet deal.
But as is usually the case with sci-fi thrillers, progress comes with a catch. A big one.
As expected, the trailer finds Mark back at the office, still confused and distressed by the shady goings-on around him.
To the familiar strains of the Who’s “Eminence Front,” the beleaguered corporate drone races through one anonymous corridor after another, eventually encountering some familiar faces — or faces that should be familiar, anyway.
This show’s writers are masters of withholding information, so we shouldn’t be surprised that the trailer comes to a close just as Mark’s supervisor Milchik (Tramell Tillman) enters the scene with some very sinister-looking balloons.
That’s right, sinister balloons. And if that’s not enough to lure you into a second trip down the Severance rabbit hole then the return of the most talented cast on streaming will sweeten the deal.
Adam Scott, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Zach Cherry, Jen Tullock, Michael Chernus, Dichen Lachman, John Turturro, Christopher Walken, and Patricia Arquette, are all returning, along with new series regular Sarah Bock.
“In season two, Mark and his friends learn the dire consequences of trifling with the severance barrier, leading them further down a path of woe,” reads the official logline.
A path of woe has never sounded so intriguing! Severance Season 2 premieres on AppleTV+ on January 17, and in case you couldn’t tell — we can’t wait!

The post Virgin River Trailer Pays Tribute to Epic Love Story & Teases Wedding of the Year appeared first on TV Fanatic.
]]>The question, dear Virgin River Fanatics, is, are you ready for this spectacular event?
We probably know the answer to that.
One of modern television’s greatest romances is coming upon a monumental event, and it’s been a long time coming.
Six seasons, to be exact.
When Virgin River Season 6 returns to Netflix with an all-new season, one of the most highly anticipated events will be at the forefront of our minds, hearts, and the Virgin River community.
Since they laid eyes on one another, we’ve been rooting for Mel and Jack to fall in love and eventually make their way down the altar.
And with the highs, lows, many obstacles, and loads of drama, that time has finally arrived.
Mel and Jack’s wedding is a well-earned moment for the fans, and the latest teaser suggests that it will be well worth it when we get to share that moment with them.
Netflix’s newly released teaser serves as an ode to Mel and Jack’s love story, covering how they fell in love with each other and what they’ve overcome together.
It’s all set against the backdrop of Jack’s romantic proposal, as we see this wonderful timeline serving as a map of their love, from their very first meeting to special moments like him presenting her with the cabin or simple moments like the two snuggling in bed.
We hear Jack talk about how he wants to spend the rest of his life making Mel the happiest woman in the world.
The teaser presents many of their happiest, sweetest, and most romantic moments, filled with smiles, laughter, and a palpable love that touches any romantic.
As the sweeping music picks up, so do the many flashes of their most endearing moments, with hugs and kisses flitting by so quickly we can barely keep up with them.
It crescendoes, landing when Jack presents Mel with the stunning diamond ring, solidifying that their engagement and this wedding are real and not some romantic fantasy.
The teaser then gets into the good parts, showing us flashes of the upcoming season and all these exciting moments for this couple and other characters in Virgin River.
We see a gorgeous shot of Mel and Jack standing in the center of their wedding venue, seemingly imagining the day they’ll eventually share their vows and become one.
It’s an endearing moment that’s just theirs.
The location swallows them up, and the gorgeous stained-glass window looms over them as they touch their foreheads.
We also get flashes of Mel’s Bachelorette part, which involves a hot pink limo and the lovely ladies of Virgin River seemingly celebrating her.
The teaser shares glimpses of Mel on stage with some other ladies performing karaoke and having fun.
Not to be left out of the fun, we see Jack goofing off with a cowboy hat in one flash and gallantly riding a horse in another.
And then, it gets to the best part of the teaser yet — we see Jack happily trying on his suit for the big day and pleased with what’s in front of him.
Hell, he should be; we’re pleased just looking at him!
Then, we switch over to Mel; it’s wedding dress time. But will we see it?
You have to check out this gorgeous teaser to find out!
Netflix also celebrated this occasion with some romantic spoiler images of Jack and Mel; they could not be happier in every one we’ve seen.
From snugging outside to the signature forehead touch, our hearts are fluttering with the feels.
If it still hasn’t sunk in that Mel and Jack’s wedding is rapidly approaching, the key art showing us a bit of veil in a field that likely represents Virgin River’s stunning landscape informs us that we should
“Save the Date.”
They don’t have to tell us twice!
Virgin River will return with its entire season dropping on December 19 on Netflix.
We’ve RSVP’d for this affair, but have you?
Let’s hear it below!

The post The Penguin Midseason Trailer Promises Major Tension Between Sofia and Oz appeared first on TV Fanatic.
]]>The beloved Max mob drama will deliver a scant eight episodes for its first (and possibly only) season, which is a bit of a bummer.
But we suppose you can’t expect any series to keep up such a breakneck pace forever.
A new trailer for the show’s second season debuted at New York Comic Con this week.
And it looks like the alliance between Sofia and Oz will rather be short-lived.
“So who’s got the power in this city? The Falcones? The Maronis? Why not us?” Oz asks in a voice-over.
“He betrayed me, the daughter of the Falcone don,” Sofia says of her former driver.
“I want Oz to feel pain,” she continues. “I need him to suffer for what he’s done.”
Yes, while the conflict between Gotham’s top crime families will no doubt continue, it looks like the remainder of the season will focus largely on the clash between Oz and Sofia.
And based on the scenes of destruction throughout Gotham, it seems that the battle between these aspiring overlords will take quite a toll.
The Penguin himself, Colin Farrell, made an appearance at the opening day of this year’s con.
“Human beings want to distinguish themselves until you’re special in a way society says isn’t cool,“ Farrell said of his character.
”He’s had this sense of otherness imposed upon him and made to feel different in all these ways. He was always going to end up losing his mind at some point.
“Ascension into power is a descension into madness that was born of the pain he’s experienced all his life. The power vacuum is such a raw opportunity to rise. The worst thing you can do is laugh at him.”
Well, probably the absolute worst thing you could do would be violently murder him — which is exactly what Sofia promises to accomplish in the trailer.
As we said earlier, it’s not easy to keep raising the stakes week after week. But it looks like the Penguin might manage exactly that.
There was a time when it was tough to imagine where the show could go next.
In particular, last week’s episode — which focused on Sofia’s stint in Arkham Asylum — seemed like it would be tough to top.
But the promise of an all-out war between two of the most compelling characters on TV has us very excited about this season’s second half.
What do you think, TV fanatics? Can The Penguin continue to outdo itself?
